The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2025 Elective National Convention is currently taking place at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The event is being held despite conflicting court rulings surrounding its legality. While an FCT High Court issued an order restraining the party from conducting the convention, a High Court in Ibadan granted approval for the exercise to proceed.
The convention aims to elect new members of the National Working Committee (NWC), who will oversee the affairs of the opposition party for the next four years.
Delegates are presently undergoing accreditation, after which voting is expected to begin.
The atmosphere at the stadium is vibrant, with live bands, DJs, and other performers entertaining party members and supporters. Many attendees are waving party flags and displaying campaign materials for their preferred candidates.
Security agencies are positioned across the venue to ensure the safety of delegates and participants, while petty traders are leveraging the large turnout to engage in brisk business.
