The Federal Government has called on aviation stakeholders to reaffirm their dedication to a progressive, sustainable, and innovative industry that ensures safer skies for Nigeria.
Speaking at the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in Abuja, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating emerging technologies, enhancing infrastructure, and investing in human capital development.
“We must renew our commitment to ensuring a more progressive, sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous aviation industry. This requires continuous training, upgrading of infrastructure, and embracing modern technologies,” Keyamo stated.
He assured industryv players of ongoing staff training across all aviation agencies, highlighting the administration’s resolve to prioritize safety and efficiency.
Keyamo also praised President Bola Tinubu’s support in safeguarding the NCAA’s autonomy. He recounted how the proposed merger of the NCAA and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), as recommended by the Orosanya Report, was ultimately discarded after careful consideration by the administration.
The NCAA’s Director-General, Captain Chris Najomo, reflected on the agency’s role in shaping Nigeria’s aviation landscape, emphasizing regulatory excellence and safety advancements.g
“As we celebrate this milestone, we must look ahead to embracing new technologies, improving operational efficiencies, and fostering partnerships that will elevate our aviation industry,” Najomo said.
He reaffirmed NCAA’s commitment to the Minister’s Five-Point Agenda and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritize infrastructure development, safety, economic growth, and job creation.
Former Minister of Aviation, Captain Demuren, underscored the importance of capacity building and human capital development, stressing the need for continuous adaptation to technological advancements in the aviation sector.
The NCAA had earlier hosted a symposium themed “Human Capital Development: Upskilling the Next Generation of Aviators” to mark the anniversary, reinforcing the agency’s focus on future industry growth.
