The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a man, Christian Ndubuisi, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother to death during a heated altercation.
State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, described the incident as “tragic” and “unfortunate,” emphasizing the need for peaceful conflict resolution within communities.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Sunday, confirmed that Ndubuisi was apprehended on Saturday by officers from the 3-3 Divisional Headquarters following a report of the fatal attack.
“On February 15, 2025, operatives responded swiftly to a report and arrested Christian Ndubuisi, who allegedly killed his elder brother over a minor disagreement,” Ikenga stated.
According to the police, the altercation turned violent when the suspect broke a bottle and fatally stabbed his sibling. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Commissioner Orutugu extended his condolences to the bereaved family, calling the tragedy a stark reminder of the consequences of unresolved conflicts and poor anger management.
“It is devastating to witness how a minor disagreement escalated into a fatal confrontation,” Orutugu said.
Authorities have confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation, with assurances that justice will be served.
