Suicide: 16-Year-Old Apprentice Found Dead in Yenagoa

Residents of Kpansia in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, were thrown into shock following the tragic death of a 16-year-old boy, Ayibanua Timipre, who was found hanging in his father’s house on Saturday morning, February 15, 2025.

The teenager, a native of Igbomotoru Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, reportedly took his own life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan. His lifeless body was discovered with the rope still fastened to the fixture.

While the exact reason behind the act remains uncertain, some residents suggest it may have been linked to an alleged punishment after he was accused of stealing N27,000 from his home.

Timipre, who had recently marked his 16th birthday on February 9, was described by neighbors as a quiet and well-liked young man undergoing training in mobile phone repairs.

The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with spokesperson Musa Mohammed stating that officers responded to the scene and recovered the body.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
