The Lagos State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully concluded its inaugural Annual Conference for Assistant Superintendents of Narcotics I & II, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Nigeria.
The landmark two-day conference, held at the NDLEA Lagos office in 1st Rainbow, Festac, assembled frontline narcotics officers from across the state under the theme “Consolidate the War Against Drug Abuse.” The event featured strategic sessions on operational reviews, capacity building, and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange — all aimed at strengthening enforcement strategies and enhancing inter-agency collaboration.
Addressing participants at the closing ceremony, Commander Abubakar Liman Wali, the Lagos State NDLEA Commander, lauded the officers for their dedication, professionalism, and proactive engagement throughout the conference.
“This gathering has provided a vital platform to review our operational challenges, spotlight our successes, and forge strategic roadmaps for the future. You are not just narcotics officers — you are leaders in Nigeria’s critical fight against drug abuse,” Commander Wali stated.
He emphasized the importance of converting insights from the conference into actionable strategies, urging participants to adopt advanced enforcement techniques, foster deeper community partnerships, and strengthen internal teamwork.
The Commander also extended appreciation to the facilitators, guest speakers, and support staff whose contributions ensured the conference’s success, reiterating that sustained collaboration is essential for the NDLEA’s mission to curb drug abuse in Lagos and beyond.
“Let’s return to our respective commands with renewed zeal and an unyielding commitment to drive meaningful change. The future of Nigeria’s drug law enforcement relies on our courage, consistency, and collective action,” Wali concluded.
This maiden conference forms part of the Lagos Command’s broader initiative to enhance professionalism, leadership capacity, and operational effectiveness within the NDLEA, particularly among its emerging leadership cadre.
Going forward, the agency reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing continuous officer training, inter-agency cooperation, and grassroots-driven strategies to secure sustainable victories in Nigeria’s fight against drug abuse.
