Nigeria’s leading carrier, Air Peace, has announced that several of its domestic flights will be disrupted following heavy rainfall in Lagos and Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
The airline, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, said adverse weather conditions had affected flight schedules across its network.
“We wish to inform you that due to the heavy downpour of rain in Lagos this morning, some flights across our operating networks will be delayed,” Efe said.
He stressed that while weather disruptions were beyond the airline’s control, passenger safety remained paramount.
“While weather is beyond our control and safety remains our utmost priority, we appeal for your understanding as we manage the disruptions as best as we can and get you to your destinations safely,” the spokesperson added.
Air Peace further advised passengers to stay updated on rescheduled flights through its customer care channels via email and phone.
The statement reiterated:
“Safety is not just a priority but a core commitment. We remain dedicated to upholding the highest safety standards for our passengers and crew.”
The development comes as the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) issued fresh forecasts of thunderstorms and rainfall across the country.
NiMet’s three-day outlook warned of isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains over Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba states, with flash floods likely in some areas.
For the central region, including Niger, Kogi, Kwara, the FCT, and Benue, NiMet projected cloudy skies with periods of sunshine, followed by moderate rainfall. In the south, moderate rains are expected in Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.
Airlines and passengers alike have been urged to exercise caution as the rainy season continues to disrupt travel across Nigeria.
