A family tragedy has struck Akure, when a middle-aged trader, Bosede Iluyemi, allegedly killed her elder sister, Omowumi Tewogboye, during a dispute over an ₦800 debt.
According to eyewitnesses, Omowumi had purchased tomatoes and pepper from Bosede on credit but failed to pay back the money. The disagreement reportedly escalated into a heated argument, leading Bosede to grab her sister’s clothes.
The tussle caused Omowumi to fall and sustain serious injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead on arrival.
“It was a small amount of money, just ₦800. Nobody expected it would end this way,” a shocked neighbor told reporters.
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Bosede and taken her into custody.
Spokesperson DSP Olusola Ayanlade confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
“The suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody. The matter is under investigation, and justice will be served,” Ayanlade assured.
The tragic incident has left residents of the Akure neighborhood stunned, with many describing the sisters’ fallout as avoidable.
