Seven Family Members Killed in Kano Housebreak Attack

Tragedy has struck Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kano State after seven members of a family were brutally killed in what police have described as a housebreak attack.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Fatima Abubakar and her six children, who were reportedly attacked by unknown assailants who forced their way into the family’s residence and inflicted fatal injuries using dangerous weapons.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed that it received a distress call shortly after the incident and immediately deployed operatives to the scene.

In a statement, the command said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, swiftly mobilised a team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Lawal Mani, to respond to the emergency.

“The victims were evacuated and rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, for medical attention,” the police said.

“Unfortunately, doctors pronounced all of them dead on arrival.”
Following the incident, CP Bakori ordered an intensive investigation and directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, expressed the command’s sympathy to the affected family and the wider community.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, and the entire Kano State over this tragic and painful loss,” Kiyawa said.

He assured residents that the police would pursue the case diligently.

“We will leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice. We also urge members of the public to provide any useful information that can aid the ongoing investigation,” he added.

The incident has thrown the community into mourning, with residents calling for improved security measures to prevent further attacks.
