Kebbi State Government has taken a bold step to reinforce its security architecture by engaging the services of a global private security firm, G-Safety, to complement the efforts of existing security agencies in combating banditry and terrorism in the region.

Governor Nasiru Idris disclosed this during a strategic meeting with a delegation of security experts from G-Safety, a Beijing-based international security consortium, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

Describing the visit as timely and crucial, Governor Idris said the collaboration aims to enhance the operational capacity of local and federal security agencies in dealing with threats in affected local government areas.

“We invited their expertise to help advise and work alongside our security agencies, so they can respond more effectively to the challenges posed by bandits and other criminal elements,” the governor said.

G-Safety to Provide Strategic Support in Security Operations

Speaking after the meeting, Ahmed Saleh Junior, a Security Consultant for G-Safety, revealed that the company operates in over 36 countries and specializes in delivering comprehensive security solutions for governments and institutions.

“Kebbi State, like many parts of Northwestern Nigeria, has faced the devastating impact of terrorism and banditry, including attacks from groups such as the Lakurawa,” Saleh explained. “Our role is to complement existing security efforts by providing strategic support and advanced security solutions tailored to the region’s unique challenges.”

Governor Idris Prioritizes Community Safety and Regional Stability

Governor Idris reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and stability, especially in rural communities most affected by criminal activity. He emphasized that security is essential for economic growth, agricultural development, and community livelihood in Kebbi State.

The governor noted that the partnership with G-Safety is expected to introduce technology-driven surveillance and monitoring systems, training for local security operatives and community-based intelligence gathering strategies

Kebbi, like several other Northwestern Nigerian states, has experienced escalating insecurity due to the activities of armed bandits, terrorist cells, and militant groups. These groups have disrupted local economies, displaced rural populations, and strained federal and state security resources.
