A reported security scare involving Nigerian Navy officer Lt. A.M. Yerima triggered a noticeable military presence along the Gado Nasko Road in Kubwa on Sunday evening.
According to reports, the tension began around 6 p.m. when two unmarked white Hilux vans—occupied by men dressed in black—allegedly trailed Lt. Yerima from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Kubwa Expressway to Gado Nasko Road. By 7 p.m., at least eight military vehicles were seen patrolling the area, a response believed to be part of heightened security measures activated to protect the officer.
However, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command rejected claims of an attempted attack or surveillance on the officer.
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh stated that no such incident had been reported to any division within the FCT. She dismissed the allegations as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary public panic.
The Police urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest division or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08068587311.
Meanwhile, military officials confirmed that the alleged trailing of Lt. Yerima is currently under investigation, with security agencies working to verify the details and ensure his safety.
