Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has penned a heartfelt message to fans following Nigeria’s painful exit from the race to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria’s hopes were crushed after a dramatic penalty shootout defeat to DR Congo, a result that left millions of supporters devastated. In the aftermath, Nwabali, who delivered several crucial saves throughout the match, took to social media on X, to express his disappointment and gratitude.

The Chippa United shot-stopper acknowledged the team’s heartbreak but insisted that the players gave everything they had on the pitch.

“We did our best,” he wrote, thanking fans for their unwavering support despite the heartbreaking outcome.

Nwabali also urged Nigerians to stay united behind the Super Eagles, noting that while the result was painful, the team remains committed to bouncing back stronger.
