Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has opened up about the motivation behind his recent fitness transformation, revealing that the decision was sparked by conversations about his next music project earlier this year.
Speaking during an appearance on Echo Room, the rapper said discussions with longtime producer Chopsticks in February 2025 initially focused on the sound and visuals of his upcoming album but soon shifted to his image and lifestyle.
According to Ice Prince, Chopsticks stressed the need for a refreshed look ahead of the project. “He said for the next album, we need to give them a new look—we need to lose the belly, grow the beards,” Ice Prince recalled.
He said the comment resonated deeply with him, adding, “It just sunk in a way that I had never heard it before. I started the weight-loss journey that same day.”
The rapper said he immediately began researching fitness and nutrition, following trainers online and studying healthier food options.
He noted that another statement from Chopsticks became a guiding principle throughout the process: “Everything that goes into your mouth is supposed to be medicine. Everything you eat should play a role in your body.”
Ice Prince explained that his routine involved intermittent fasting and strict dietary changes. “I started with intermittent fasting, eating once a day,” he said, adding that he introduced homemade ginger tea and fruits such as plums and lemon into his meals. He also cut out sugar and alcohol, allowing only occasional “cheat days.”
In addition to dietary changes, the rapper incorporated regular exercise into his schedule, including daily walks and early-morning jogging whenever possible. He noted that his environment sometimes influences his routine, explaining that walking outdoors is easier when he is in Lagos.
Ice Prince also stirred reactions online during the interview with a controversial remark about breakfast, declaring that he no longer believes in eating it and dismissing the habit in blunt terms that quickly sparked debate on social media.
