The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami says the Federal Government will give effect to the judgment of a Federal High Court which struck down Section 84(12) of the newly amended Electoral Act.

Mr. Malami said judgment of the Court would be in line with the dictates of the law and it would be recognized by the Government printers in printing the Electoral Act.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations in the Office of the the AGF, Dr. Umar Gwandu.

According to the statement, the AGF says the provision of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022 is not part of the law and will be so treated accordingly.

He however says, in line with the dictates of chapter 7, Part 4, Section 287 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) on enforcement of decisions, all authorities and persons should make it a point of duty and ensure that the judgment of the Umahia division of the Federal High Court, among others, is enforced.
