ASUU Rejects NASS Push For More Varsities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has rejected the initiation of new bills for the creation of new universities in Nigeria.
ASUU National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, told Newsmen that the government was yet to meet up with the needs of existing universities, yet it was pushing for the creation of new ones. 
Prof. Osodeke, said that most Universities were in dilapidated states, lecturers were not well catered for and kicked against more Universities.
He said Nigeria does not have up to one hundred thousand lecturers as there exist brain drain.
The ASUU President pointed out that lecturers were leaving the country because of unfair treatment, and emphasized the need for the Government to release adequate funds into the University system.
