The Kogi State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged attack on the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, located in the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, the investigation was triggered by a report that unidentified assailants targeted the property during the early hours of Tuesday, April 16, 2025.

Authorities said they received a distress call around 3:30 a.m. from Yakubu Ovanja, an aide to the senator. Ovanja reported that at approximately 1:00 a.m., three unidentified men, wielding cutlasses, attacked the residence. The attackers reportedly shattered windowpanes in what appeared to be an attempt to forcibly enter the building.

Following the report, officers from the Okehi Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, were dispatched to the scene. They met with Michael Akpoti, a resident of the home, who confirmed the attack and said the suspects fled after he raised an alarm.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State has tasked the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) with conducting a discreet and thorough investigation. The goal, according to police, is to determine the motive behind the attack and to bring those responsible to justice.

The Kogi State Police Command has urged the public to remain calm and has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property. Citizens are encouraged to provide any useful information that could aid in the investigation.
