In a significant move to reposition Nigeria’s agricultural and economic sectors, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), as the new Chairman of the revamped Bank of Agriculture (BoA).
The announcement was made on Friday in a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Aged 53, Muhammad Babangida brings a rich blend of academic and executive experience to the role. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Switzerland. He also completed an Executive Program in Corporate Governance at the prestigious Harvard Business School in 2002.
The appointment comes as part of a broader leadership shake-up across key federal agencies aimed at driving President Tinubu’s reform agenda.

Lydia Kalat Musa (Kaduna) – Chairman, Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority
Jamilu Wada Aliyu (Kano) – Chairman, National Educational Research and Development Council
Yahuza Ado Inuwa (Kano) – Chairman, Standard Organisation of Nigeria
Sanusi Musa, SAN (Kano) – Chairman, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution
Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu (Sokoto) – Director-General, Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa
Sanusi Garba Rikiji (Zamfara) – Director-General, Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations
