The Senior Special Assistant to the Zamfara State Governor on Broadcast Media, Press and Public Affairs, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, has dismissed as false and baseless the rumours making the rounds that Governor Dauda Lawal is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to journalists in Gusau, Kaura described the speculation as unfounded and mischievous, saying it was aimed at misleading the public and causing unnecessary political tension in the state.
He emphasised that there was no truth whatsoever in the claim that Governor Lawal intended to dump the PDP, adding that the governor remained a committed and loyal member of the party under whose platform he was overwhelmingly elected by the people of Zamfara State during the 2023 general elections.
“The mandate given to Governor Dauda Lawal was through the PDP, and there is absolutely no reason for him to abandon the party that brought him to power,”Kaura stated.
He further emphasised that the PDP had not done anything wrong or acted in any way that could warrant the governor’s defection, urging members of the public to disregard the false reports.
Kaura assured that Governor Lawal’s administration remains focused on delivering good governance, strengthening security, and fulfilling all campaign promises made to the people of Zamfara State.
