The Chairman of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Hussaini Aliyu, has dismissed a statement by U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore claiming that the abduction of students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, occurred in a Christian community.

Aliyu described the claim as false, misleading and capable of fuelling religious tension at a time when security agencies are working to rescue the victims. He clarified that all 25 abducted schoolgirls are Muslims.

He further explained that the Maga community, located under the Zuru Emirate, is known for peaceful coexistence and has never experienced any form of religious crisis.

Aliyu appealed to foreign officials to refrain from making unverified comments that could harm Nigeria’s image or undermine national unity.
