Panic swept through Eruku town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday evening after terrorists attacked a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed the church during a meeting and opened fire without warning, sending worshippers scrambling for safety. Three members were shot dead instantly before the attackers seized an unspecified number of people at gunpoint.

“The gunmen came in suddenly and started shooting. Three people were killed instantly,” a witness said. “They gathered others and marched them into the bush. We still don’t know the exact number taken.”

The assailants reportedly fled through bush paths linking Eruku to neighbouring communities, leaving residents traumatized and unsure of what might follow.

Earlier reports indicated that heavily armed terrorists had entered the town through a major route, firing sporadically and forcing residents and travellers to abandon vehicles and run into nearby bushes. Continuous gunfire rang through the area, deepening the panic.

A traveller who narrowly escaped recorded a distressed video while hiding, pleading for urgent security intervention. “This is 18-11-2025… they started shooting. Everybody has scattered into the bush,” he said. “Please, come to our rescue. People have abandoned their vehicles. The community is in chaos.”

The attackers were said to have moved through multiple communities in the area without resistance, leaving destruction in their wake.

As of press time, neither the Kwara State Police Command nor the state government has released an official statement regarding the incident.
