Following Nigeria’s failure to pick a World Cup ticket to Qatar 2022, former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, is proposing measures to help position Nigerian football to greater standards.

Oliseh, in his column titled, ‘Life is A Sport’ wrote that Nigeria can use Victor Osimhen as a springboard for greatness, as he considers him one of the best players on the continent at the moment

According to him, he said that: “Similarly, in every football nation, the local league is the equivalent of the farmland above and football players are the seeds of this multi-billion dollars generating sports industry”.

Oliseh wrote further that the current state of the league is dire and needs urgent steps for critical repositioning.

“The state of the Nigerian local league is arguably an extremely dire state, compared to other football leagues in Africa if not the world”.

Nigeria failed to pick up the ticket to the World Cup later in the year with critics blaming Osimhen partly for the situation.
