NAWOJ Advocates Safety Of Members

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has Advocates for the safety of its members while discharging their duty.

The National President of the Association, Ladi Bala, made the advocate at a 3 Day Training on Gender Equity and Safety, Gender Sensitive Reporting for Women Journalists held in Kebbi State.

The President said, women journalists have been having challenges of insecurity, maltreatment among others while discharging their duty.

Bala, also advocated for inclusipn of more women in governance as their are 13 women in the National Assembly as legislators.

She said, the training conducted in 27 states has changed the way of reportage of the members.

The Kebbi State Head of the Civil Service, Safiyanu Garba Bena, represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Malami Abdullahi, assured the state government commitment in supporting the Initiative of the association.

The Kebbi State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Hassana Abubakar, said the training was first of its kind in the state since establishment of the association.

She called on members of the association to always balance their reportage and also must be guided by safety and caution as en shirin in the constitution.
