Model Secondary School (MSS) Maitama, a prestigious public school in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has officially appointed its new set of student leaders for the 2025/2026 academic session.

During the decoration ceremony, Director Principal Dr. Judith Olure emphasized the importance of student leadership, stating that the transition was crucial as outgoing prefects in SS3 prepare for their WAEC and NECO examinations in May. She highlighted that the new prefects were selected based on academic excellence, character, and commitment to discipline.

Dr. Olure urged the newly appointed prefects to take their roles seriously, uphold school values, and lead by example. She reminded them that leadership is about service and warned against any form of misconduct or bullying. The outgoing prefects were also commended for their dedication to maintaining discipline and fostering a conducive learning environment.

Guest speaker Mrs. Chevonne Jibromah, President of Future Focus Foundation, spoke on the essence of leadership, stressing selfless service, responsibility, and teamwork. She encouraged the prefects to develop strong communication skills, make balanced decisions, and uphold high moral standards.

Senior Mistress Special Duties, Mrs. Akanu Ugoma, congratulated the new leaders and advised them to balance their academic performance with their responsibilities.

In his acceptance speech, newly appointed Head Boy, Master Abdulkadir Amir, expressed gratitude to the school management for the trust placed in them. He assured that they would uphold the discipline and values that MSS Maitama is known for.

The ceremony concluded with the official decoration of the new prefects amid applause from students and a call for everyone to support the new leadership in maintaining excellence in academics and character.
