A TikToker identified as Debrakin has accused Nigerian musician and live band performer Segun Johnson of abruptly ending their 13-year relationship after persuading her to relocate to Lagos.
Debrakin made the claims in a series of posts shared on TikTok, where she detailed the timeline of their relationship, describing it as one marked by years of commitment and intermittent challenges.
“I have been with this person for 13 years. Although there were ups and downs in the relationship and I relocated to the UK at some point, then we rekindled in the UK when he came,” she said.
“He had already become popular at the time, so he asked that we get back together… so we continued from where we stopped like nothing happened.”
According to her, the singer later urged her to return to Nigeria permanently, offering to support her relocation.
“Suddenly, he said I should come back to Lagos, that he would sponsor me for what I need. I told him I wanted to save some more money before I relocate because I do not want to be dependent on anyone, but he insisted I come,” she stated.
Debrakin said she eventually agreed, believing the move signaled a step toward settling down.
“I thought that he was pestering me to return because he was not getting any younger… I did not even tell some of my friends I was relocating to Lagos and I even ditched a new job I got.”
However, she alleged that the relationship took an unexpected turn shortly after her return. She claimed that after celebrating his birthday together, the musician traveled to the United Kingdom and later returned with a gift she discovered had been purchased by another woman.
“I asked him about the gift and if it was given by a woman and he said yes… I checked his phone and discovered a girl bought him that machine when he went to the UK,” she said.
She further alleged that the relationship ended abruptly via a voice note after attempts to discuss the issue.
“He then said now is the time… Eventually, I agreed to see him, then he later said he could not make it anymore and he sent a breakup voice note. He literally broke up our 13-year relationship through a voice note,” she added.
Efforts to reach Segun Johnson for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or text messages as of the time of filing this report.
In a follow-up post, Debrakin explained that going public with her story was part of her healing process.
“I had to share this for my own closure… staying silent would have made it easier to go back to something I should not. This is me choosing different,” she said.
