As Christians around the world celebrate Easter, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, has called on political and public office holders to embrace humility and serve the people with sincerity, following the example of Jesus Christ.

Delivering his Easter message at the Chapel of Grace, Bishop’s Court Ekwulobia, Bishop Ezeofor expressed concern over the growing disconnect between elected leaders and the citizens they represent. He lamented that many public officials have failed to meet the expectations of their office, often neglecting the core values of selfless service and integrity.

The Bishop, who also serves as the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) Nigeria, emphasized the urgent need for attitudinal change among leaders. He urged them to lead with the fear of God and a deep sense of responsibility to uplift the lives of the people who entrusted them with power.

“As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is important for leaders at all levels to reflect on His humility and unwavering commitment to serve humanity. Leadership should not be about self-interest, but about making life better for others,” Bishop Ezeofor said.

He also appealed to wealthy individuals and the privileged in society to use the Easter season as an opportunity to extend compassion to the less fortunate. “Easter is a time of hope and salvation. Let us not forget those in need as we rejoice,” he added.

Encouraging believers facing hardships, Bishop Ezeofor reminded them to keep their faith in God, stating that only He offers lasting solutions to life’s challenges.

“In this season of victory and celebration, surrender your life to Christ so that He can grant you victory over sin,” he urged.

Bishop Ezeofor concluded by reiterating that Easter remains a sacred period of joy for Christians worldwide as it marks the triumph of Jesus over death, symbolizing hope, renewal, and eternal life.
