The Kano State Hisbah Board has confirmed plans to include popular TikTok personalities, Ashiru Idris, known as Maiwushirya, and Basira Haruna, popularly called Yar Guda, among the beneficiaries of its upcoming mass wedding programme.

This development followed a recent court order directing that the duo should formalize their relationship through marriage within 60 days.

Deputy Commander General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, disclosed this in an audio message made public.

According to Sheikh Mujahid, the board had already commenced the screening process for the two social media personalities to ensure compliance with the court’s directive.

“The Hisbah Board is working in line with the judgment delivered by Magistrate Halima Wali of Magistrate Court No. 7, which mandated the board to conduct the marriage between Maiwushirya and Yar Guda within 60 days,” he said.

The deputy commander added that the board may also consider working with relevant authorities to ensure decent accommodation for the couple, as requested by the bride-to-be during court proceedings.

Maiwushirya and Yar Guda were recently convicted for violating the Kano State Film and Video Censorship Board laws, which prohibit the production and circulation of obscene or indecent content within the state.

During the trial, both TikTokers admitted to being in a relationship, prompting the court to direct that they formalize their union to prevent further indecent displays on social media.

Magistrate Wali, in her ruling, cautioned that failure to conduct the marriage within the stipulated 60 days would amount to contempt of court.
