The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has alleged that his children are being deliberately denied admission into tertiary institutions because of his outspoken criticism of the killings of Christians in Nigeria.

In a statement, the cleric says his children, who are qualified for university admission, have faced repeated rejection from higher institutions, particularly in northern Nigeria.

He claimed the rejections are linked to his vocal advocacy against what he describes as the systematic killing of Christians by bandits and terrorists, especially in Plateau State.

Rev. Dachomo described the development as painful and unjust, stressing that his children should not suffer discrimination because of his public stance or activism.

According to him, despite meeting all academic and admission requirements, his children have been denied admission several times without any official explanation.

He alleged that the difficulties often occur during screening exercises, where admission officers reportedly recognize the surname “Dachomo,” after which the applications are either sidelined or quietly dropped.

He said this has happened on more than three occasions, mostly in institutions located in northern Nigeria, suggesting a deliberate and troubling pattern.

“My children have been denied admission into universities, especially in the North, because of my stance in speaking out against the killing of Christians,” he said.

The cleric added that the situation has caused emotional distress for his family, particularly his children, who have no involvement in his advocacy.

He appealed to the government and relevant educational authorities to intervene and ensure that his children are not denied their constitutional right to education because of his beliefs or public position.
