A member of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, who was recently released from captivity, has shared a chilling account of the experience he and other abducted worshippers faced while held by t+rrorists in a remote forest.

Recounting the ordeal, the survivor said the abductors immediately made it clear that escape was impossible due to their full control of the environment.

“It was unimaginable because when we got there, we knew it was a dominated area,” he explained. “They told us themselves that they are bandits and made us understand that no one can escape. From what we saw, nobody could run. They know all the routes around the bushes in Kwara and even other nearby areas.”

He described the forest as heavily monitored, with the terrorists boasting about their deep knowledge of the terrain and their ability to detect any movement in the surrounding areas. Captives were constantly guarded, leaving them in fear and uncertainty throughout their days in captivity.

A total of 38 worshippers were taken from the CAC in Eruku on Tuesday, November 18, and were freed on Sunday, November 23, 2025, amid rising kidnap incidents across the country.
