President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed that all 38 worshippers kidnapped during the attack on Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Eruku, in Kwara State have been successfully rescued by security operatives.
In a statement shared on his official X account, the President also disclosed that 51 of the students abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, in Niger State have been recovered.
Tinubu revealed that he cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally oversee and coordinate nationwide security operations.
He said the move was necessary to ensure swift and targeted responses to the surge of abductions recorded in the past week.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued,” he said.
The President further confirmed progress in the Niger State incident, saying: “I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered.”
Tinubu noted that he has been receiving real-time updates from security agencies and assured Nigerians that his administration will not allow criminal elements to destabilize the country.
“I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline. Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he stated.
