A fire outbreak has occurred at the Amuwo Odofin Industrial Estate in the Mile 2 area of Lagos State, prompting an emergency response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said firefighters had been deployed to the scene and were actively battling the blaze to prevent its spread.
In a brief statement, Adeseye assured residents and business owners within the industrial hub that the situation was under control, urging members of the public not to panic.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to a fire outbreak at Amuwo Odofin Industrial Estate, Mile 2, Lagos,” she said.
She added, “We’re assuring the public that we’re currently on top of the situation and there is no need to exercise fear.”
Emergency responders remain on ground as containment efforts continue, while safety measures are being enforced around the affected area.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire and the extent of damage to properties within the industrial estate had yet to be determined.
