Four persons have been confirmed dead following a fatal road crash at the Ijebu-Imushin axis of the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway in Ogun State.
The accident, which involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a MAN Diesel truck belonging to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, was attributed to excessive speeding, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The Ogun State FRSC spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, disclosed the incident in a statement issued to journalists.
“A white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BDJ482XC collided with a blue MAN Diesel truck with registration number RSH969XC belonging to Julius Berger. The incident occurred at the Ijebu-Imushin axis of the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway,” she said.
Odunsi-Oyewole confirmed that all four occupants of the bus—two male adults and two female adults—died on the spot.
“Regrettably, all four occupants of the bus sustained fatal injuries and were confirmed dead at the scene. No survivors or other injuries were recorded,” she added.
Preliminary investigations by the FRSC revealed that the truck had been immobilised after a towing chain snapped, leaving it stationary on the highway.
“The speeding Toyota Hiace bus subsequently rammed into the stationary truck. Following the collision, the driver of the towing vehicle fled the scene, leaving the truck behind,” the FRSC spokesperson explained.
Emergency responders reportedly arrived at the crash scene within eight minutes of receiving the distress call. The bodies of the victims have since been evacuated to the State Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode.
Odunsi-Oyewole further disclosed that operatives of the Nigeria Police Force from the Imushin Division have taken custody of the vehicles involved and commenced an investigation.
Reacting to the incident, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwunmi Fasakin, urged motorists to obey speed limits and ensure proper safety measures when towing vehicles.
“Motorists must strictly adhere to speed limits, especially during night travel, and ensure that towing equipment meets safety standards to prevent avoidable tragedies,” Fasakin warned.
Meanwhile, in a related development, one person was killed and three others injured in a separate road accident at Aiyetoro Junction in the Epe area of Lagos earlier this month. The crash involved a truck carrying yams and a commercial tricycle, reportedly after the truck lost control while attempting a U-turn.
