At least seven children have died and 26 others sustained injuries following the collapse of part of a roof and walls at a government-run school in western India’s Rajasthan state.
According to Nand Kishore, a senior police officer speaking on Friday, rescue operations were swiftly launched after the incident occurred during school hours.
“Seven children have lost their lives so far and 26 others are injured,” Kishore confirmed, adding that emergency services and local authorities are still on the scene.
The cause of the structural failure remains unclear, though initial reports suggest the building may have been structurally compromised by recent rains. Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into the incident.
