The Federal Government has officially announced the theme for Nigeria’s 2025 Independence Day celebration: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.” The theme was revealed on Wednesday in a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The 65th Independence Anniversary theme emphasizes national unity, collaboration, and patriotism across all sectors—public institutions, the private sector, civil society groups, and the general public. It encourages a collective push toward sustainable peace, economic prosperity, and national development under the framework of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s Journey Since 1960
According to the government, the selected theme reflects Nigeria’s resilience and progress since gaining independence on October 1, 1960. It underscores the importance of consolidating past achievements while striving for greater national goals.
“This year’s theme encapsulates the spirit of unity and the collective responsibility needed to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” the statement read.
Government agencies, institutions, and partners have been urged to align their programmes and initiatives with the 2025 Independence Anniversary theme to ensure the message resonates widely.
