Ahead of the national launch of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the Renewed Hope Ambassador.

In this new role, Governor Uzodimma will also serve as Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement, and Mobilisation. His appointment takes immediate effect.

According to the statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Governor Uzodimma will work closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and state governors to promote and communicate the administration’s policies and initiatives.

As Renewed Hope Ambassador, and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, he is expected to ensure harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination across all levels of the party.

Under the arrangement, APC governors will likewise serve as Ambassadors of Hope, collaborating with Uzodimma to deepen engagement and mobilise support nationwide.

President Tinubu expects the ambassadorial team to actively publicise the administration’s achievements since 2023.

These include the steady improvement in economic indicators such as inflation, now down for the seventh consecutive month to 16.05% in October, and a stabilised exchange rate.

Nigeria’s foreign reserves have also risen to over $46 billion, up from the $32 billion figure and net reserves of $4 billion inherited in 2023.

Investor confidence has surged, with increased foreign direct and portfolio investments, particularly in the oil and gas sector. The stock market is experiencing unprecedented growth, while economic diversification efforts have placed solid minerals at the forefront.

Additionally, the government’s liberalised student loan programme has enrolled more than 700,000 students.

President Tinubu charged Governor Uzodimma with ensuring Nigerians are fully informed about these achievements and the administration’s overall reform agenda.
