NAWOJ Leaders Call for Cooperation as Caretaker Committee Takes Over in Niger

The National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Aisha Ibrahim, has called on members of the association in Niger State to embrace peace and unity for the progress of the chapter.

She made the appeal on Tuesday during the inauguration of a caretaker committee at the IBB Pen House, Minna. The committee was set up to manage the affairs of the chapter and oversee the conduct of elections within three months.

Aisha Ibrahim emphasized that only a peaceful atmosphere would enable the association to achieve its objectives, urging members to set aside personal differences and work toward a united NAWOJ in Niger State.

“The caretaker committee is necessary to streamline activities and ensure harmony among members. NAWOJ in Niger has always been known for peaceful coexistence, and it is important to restore that reputation,” she stated.

The Zonal Chairperson of NAWOJ, Zone D, Chizoba Ogbeche, reaffirmed the need for unity, noting that the committee’s formation followed the disbandment of the previous electoral committee. She urged members to support the caretaker team to build a stronger and more vibrant association.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Abu Nmodu, assured that the council acted in good faith. He called on members to reject divisive elements and support the committee for the overall good of the association.

In her response, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Caretaker Committee, Asabe Sule Garba, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in them. She pledged to work diligently in fulfilling their mandate and called for collaboration from all stakeholders.

Other members of the caretaker committee include Maimuna Raji Egigogo (Secretary), Maureen Dibie, Maryam Musa, and Ameera Bawa.
