In a strategic push for sustainable energy solutions, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, led a high-level delegation to UROVESA, a Spanish firm known for its cutting-edge military and industrial vehicle production. The visit was aimed at exploring potential collaborations on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) technology for Nigeria’s defence and industrial vehicle fleets.
The minister was joined by key officials, including Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo; Presidential CNG Initiative representative, Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi; and Engr. Henry Oki. Their discussions with UROVESA executives centered on leveraging CNG-powered vehicles to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in Nigeria’s security and industrial sectors.
Ambassador Tuggar underscored Nigeria’s strong trade relationship with Spain, highlighting that Nigerian crude oil exports to Spain totaled $3.64 billion in 2023. He commended UROVESA’s innovative vehicle designs and reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to adopting cleaner, cost-effective energy solutions. He also emphasized the ongoing economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, positioning Nigeria as a prime investment hub for clean energy technology.
The engagement reinforced Nigeria’s dedication to a green energy future, setting the stage for a strategic partnership that could modernize Nigeria’s defence and industrial vehicle fleets. If successful, the collaboration with UROVESA is expected to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to sustainable energy while driving economic growth and technological advancements.
