The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of gospel singer and soundtrack vocalist, Onos Nancy Brisibi, after a prolonged illness.

Brisibi, whose unmistakable voice featured prominently in Nollywood classics such as Domitilla and Blood Money, was widely celebrated for her contributions to gospel music and film soundtracks.

Her passing was announced in an emotional Instagram tribute by veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, who described her as a devoted Christian and a gifted songstress whose music inspired many.

“It’s hard to put into words the loss we feel,” he wrote.

“My dear sister and cousin, Onos Nancy Brisibi, went to be with the Lord this month after a long and difficult illness.”

RMD paid glowing tribute to her life and character, recalling her deep faith, warmth, and vibrant personality.

“Onos was more than family—she was love in human form. A devoted Christian, a beautiful soul, and a gifted songstress whose voice carried so much light and joy. She didn’t just sing; she ministered, lifting hearts and drawing people closer to God,” he said.

He also shared fond personal memories, highlighting her humour and unique charm.

“I called her Onos pokor pokor, and she would call me Uncle Richard—with that her playful, almost British accent… That was just who she was—full of life, humour, and charm.”

According to him, Brisibi remained cheerful even in her final days, leaving behind cherished memories for loved ones.

Born on November 20, 1970, to the late Apostle Ambrose Oproze Brisibi and Deaconess Mary Koko Brisibi of Aladja, Udu, Delta State, the late singer built a legacy through gospel ministry and her contributions to Nollywood soundtracks.

“She didn’t just sing; she ministered,” RMD added, noting that her music brought comfort and spiritual upliftment to many.

Brisibi is survived by her daughter, Sarah, her mother, siblings, extended family, and members of her church, LoveWorld Ministries.

“The tears are many, but the memories are even more… we are comforted that she is finally resting with the Lord,” he concluded.
