Suspected bandits have kidnapped a 16-year-old boy and six young women in Gidan-Bijimi, a community in Kawu Ward of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Reports indicate that the armed attackers, who were carrying AK-47 rifles, invaded two houses in the area at about 9:47 p.m. They allegedly abducted six girls, aged between 17 and 23, along with the teenage boy.
Sources say the victims were in the community to attend a funeral when the assailants struck. Gidan-Bijimi lies close to the Kaduna State border and shares a boundary with the neighboring Marke village, a location often exposed to insecurity incidents.
