The Gombe State Police has confirmed the killing of a 15-year-old girl, Aisha Abubakar, whose lifeless body was discovered in a bush on the outskirts of Kwami Local Government Area of the state.
The tragic incident was reported to the police by the victim’s father, Malam Abubakar, who alleged that his daughter was a victim of culpable homicide.
Confirming the development in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said Aisha had been sent on an errand to buy soya beans but never returned home.
“She was sent to buy soya beans and did not return back home,” Abdullahi said.
According to him, a search was launched after the teenager failed to come back, leading to the discovery of her body in a nearby bush.

“Unfortunately, her lifeless body was discovered in a bush on the outskirts of the village today,” the police spokesperson stated.
Abdullahi disclosed that detectives immediately visited the scene, where photographs were taken to aid investigations.
“Police detectives promptly visited the scene and photographed it,” he said.
He added that preliminary findings suggested the victim may have been subjected to violence.
“Preliminary observation showed signs of violence,” the statement noted.
The corpse was subsequently evacuated to a hospital for medical examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The police assured the public that a full investigation has commenced, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
“The Police has launched an investigation into the incident and is working tirelessly to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” Abdullahi said.
