A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reportedly died after a tragic accident during a tactical exercise in the Federal Capital Territory.
The incident occurred during a “show of force” operation conducted by the Corps’ Female Strike Force, popularly known as the Female Squad. A 58-second video that surfaced on social media on Saturday captured the moment the accident happened.
In the footage, a black operational van with red wheels bearing the inscription “Female Squad” was seen moving in formation, followed closely by another vehicle labeled “Female Strike Force FCT Command.”
While making a turn, the lead vehicle reportedly ran over one of the female officers, trapping her underneath.
Officers and bystanders immediately rushed to the scene. In a desperate rescue effort, several individuals lifted the van to free the injured officer, who was subsequently placed into a waiting ambulance.
Although the Corps has yet to issue an official public statement, NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale confirmed the officer’s death during a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon, according to media reports.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal exercise.
