Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has shared a personal experience involving a childhood friend, shedding light on issues of entitlement and gratitude.

The Napoli forward revealed that he had been offering financial support to the friend over time before eventually sending €5,000 to help him start a business. However, the gesture reportedly led to an unexpected reaction.

“I used to support one of my childhood friends financially, but one day he told me about a business idea he wanted to start. I sent him €5,000, but instead of appreciating it, he complained,” Osimhen said.

According to the striker, the friend compared the amount to his reported weekly earnings and demanded more.

“He said he had read that I earn about €1 million weekly and expected nothing less than €50,000,” he added.

Osimhen disclosed that the response left him deeply upset, prompting him to attempt reversing the transfer, though it was unsuccessful.

“I was so upset that I even tried to reverse the money, but it was too late. That €5,000 might be small in Europe, but in Nigeria, it’s a huge amount,” he said.

Reflecting on his rise to stardom, the striker noted that he built his career through hard work and perseverance without financial assistance.

“I hustled day and night, even selling bottled water on the streets. People need to learn how to appreciate what they receive instead of feeling entitled,” he added.
