The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that over 6.2 million Nigerians have successfully completed their online pre-registration for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, as the country gears up for the 2025 general elections.
According to data released by INEC on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, a total of 6,232,673 citizens registered online between September 22 and 28, 2025.
“This massive response reflects growing civic awareness and engagement ahead of the 2025 elections,” INEC said in a post.

INEC Cautions Against Registration Violations
While praising the high turnout, INEC reiterated its warning against underage registration, multiple registrations, and other electoral offenses.
“Registrants must adhere strictly to the rules. Violations will be met with the full weight of the law,” the Commission stated.
Earlier, INEC had issued guidelines to detect and flag suspicious registrations, including those involving minors or duplicate entries, to ensure the credibility of the final voter register.
