Abuja, Nigeria — The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs and the CLEEN Foundation, has officially relaunched WPSNigeria.net — a modernized digital platform designed to advance the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda across Nigeria and Africa.

The virtual launch brought together representatives from UN Women, leading women’s networks, civil society organizations, academia, and government institutions, with over 80 participants joining the ceremony.

In his welcome address, Director-General of IPCR, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, described the relaunch as a landmark moment for Nigeria’s peace and security architecture.

“This launch marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to advance the WPS agenda and ensure women’s voices and contributions are recognized and amplified,” he said.

“The WPS website represents more than a digital platform — it is a national knowledge hub, community of practice, and collaborative space connecting government, civil society, academia, and development partners. It strengthens Nigeria’s leadership in gender-responsive peacebuilding and reaffirms our commitment to inclusive and sustainable peace.”

Dr. Ochogwu thanked UN Women for their consistent support, acknowledged CLEEN Foundation for its technical partnership, and commended the Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs for its policy guidance and leadership. He emphasized that the platform will serve as a repository for data, research, success stories, lessons learned, and best practices on the implementation of UNSCR 1325 and Nigeria’s National Action Plans.

During the launch, Dr. Gabriel Akinremi, IT Lead at CLEEN Foundation, guided participants through the upgraded platform, demonstrating its features, interactive tools, and improved user experience.

He explained that the revamped site serves as a centralized hub for information, research, and collaboration on the WPS agenda:

“WPSNigeria.net is designed to empower stakeholders — government bodies, civil society, researchers, and advocates — by providing a shared space for knowledge exchange, visibility of initiatives, and collaborative action toward gender equality, peacebuilding, and security across Nigeria and Africa.”

The platform envisions “a vibrant digital hub that amplifies women’s voices, fosters peace, and strengthens security through sustained knowledge-sharing and advocacy.”

The relaunch signals a renewed commitment to coordination, accessibility, and evidence-driven engagement on the WPS agenda in Nigeria. The website will also support visibility for grassroots women peacebuilders while enabling nationwide and regional collaboration.
