Luis Diaz scored a dramatic stoppage-time goal to secure a 3-1 comeback win for Bayern Munich against St. Pauli on Saturday, helping the Bundesliga leaders bounce back from Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to Arsenal.

Suspended for the loss to Arsenal, Bayern’s first defeat in any competition this season—Diaz headed home a Harry Kane cross in the third minute of injury time to put Bayern ahead.

Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson added a late third goal four minutes later, sealing the victory and allowing Bayern to avoid dropping points for only the second time this Bundesliga campaign.

Earlier, Diaz played a key role in Bayern’s equaliser before half-time, setting up Raphael Guerreiro after Andreas Hountondji had given St. Pauli a shock early lead in the sixth minute.

The visitors capitalised on a midfield error from Bayern captain Joshua Kimmich, with Hountondji outmuscling Kim Min-jae to finish past Manuel Neuer at the near post.

Bayern youngsters Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof both hit the woodwork before Diaz acrobatically created the leveller. Redeeming an earlier mistake, Kim played a precise chipped pass to Diaz, who, despite falling, managed to set up Guerreiro for a close-range finish.

Kane nearly scored himself, hitting the post in the 80th minute, before providing the assist for Diaz’s late winner.

The victory leaves Bayern eight points clear atop the Bundesliga table after RB Leipzig drew 0-0 with Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Heidenheim scored twice in stoppage time to claim a 2-1 away win at Union Berlin, while Germany starlet Said El Mala rescued a 1-1 draw for promoted Cologne against Werder Bremen.

Hoffenheim climbed to fourth with a 3-0 victory over Augsburg, who remain winless since early October.

Later on Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen will host Borussia Dortmund, with the chance to draw level on points with second-placed RB Leipzig with a win.
