President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that Nigeria will host the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) 2025 in Abuja on June 20–21, under the theme “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region.”

The announcement, made via an official statement, aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to a foreign policy that places emphasis on national prosperity, regional integration, and global relevance.

“Two years ago, I pledged to champion a foreign policy prioritising our people, our prosperity, and our place in the world,” Tinubu stated. “Today, I am proud to announce the West Africa Economic Summit 2025. This summit is more than an event — it is a bold step toward a prosperous, integrated West Africa powered by trade, innovation, and our most valuable asset: our people.”

The summit will serve as a major regional platform bringing together Heads of State, corporate leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, youth innovators, and development partners to collaborate on practical solutions that drive economic transformation across West Africa.

Key features of WAES 2025 will include a Presidential Roundtable, a Deal Room for investment matchmaking, youth empowerment showcases, and regional project partnership forums aimed at boosting cross-border collaboration.

President Tinubu extended an open invitation to global stakeholders to participate in what he described as a defining moment for the region. “I invite the world to join us in Abuja as we build a stronger, more unified, and globally competitive West Africa,” he said.
