Authorities arrest 45 beggars across Lagos

The Lagos State Government has apprehended 45 beggars, including adults and minors, during separate enforcement operations carried out in Oshodi, Agege and the Central Business District (CMS) areas of the state.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday.

According to Wahab, 22 beggars, comprising adults and a few teenagers, were arrested during enforcement exercises in Oshodi and Agege.

He added that another 23 persons, including 14 adults and nine children, were apprehended at CMS as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to address street begging and maintain environmental order.

The commissioner said the operations were conducted by relevant state authorities as part of measures aimed at improving public safety and sanitation across Lagos.
