Popular Nigerian content creators Kolu and Carter Efe have officially parted ways following a public dispute over revenue sharing from their livestreaming activities.
The fallout became public after Kolu accused Carter Efe of failing to honour an alleged 70-30 profit-sharing agreement between them. According to Kolu, despite contributing significantly to the success and entertainment value of their livestreams, the highest amount he reportedly received was N1 million.
Kolu claimed that the earnings generated from streaming platforms were not distributed as agreed, leading to growing tensions between the former collaborators. He also alleged that Carter Efe withheld funds owed to him and accused the comedian and streamer of betraying his trust in their personal relationship.
Responding to the allegations, Carter Efe reportedly argued that Kolu had been receiving money from their joint ventures but spent much of it on personal expenses. He maintained that he had supported his former partner financially throughout their collaboration.
The disagreement has now brought an end to one of Nigeria’s most popular livestreaming partnerships, often described by fans as a “Tom and Jerry” relationship because of their playful on-screen chemistry and constant banter.
Following the split, Kolu has launched his own independent streaming channel. While some viewers have noted the challenges of adjusting to solo livestreaming, supporters have continued to back his efforts as he seeks to establish himself outside the partnership.
Reports suggest that Carter Efe later reached out to Kolu and encouraged a possible reunion after noticing the difficulties of operating alone. However, Kolu appears determined to continue building his brand independently.
The development has generated widespread reactions across social media, with fans expressing disappointment over the breakup of a duo that had become a major attraction in Nigeria’s online entertainment space.
Neither party has announced plans for a reconciliation, leaving followers uncertain about whether the partnership will ever be revived.
