Nigeria has taken another step in strengthening its diplomatic presence abroad as the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, presented Letters of Credence to newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners designated to Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea and Egypt.

The presentation ceremony took place on Monday, June 22, 2026, following the formal approval of the diplomats by their host countries through the diplomatic process known as agrément.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the development is part of the ongoing deployment of ambassadors appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
The ministry disclosed that out of the 69 ambassadors appointed by the president, 63 host countries have so far granted agrément, including India and South Africa, paving the way for the diplomats to assume their duties.
“Many of the affected ambassadors have since departed to their respective countries to commence their tour of duty,” the statement said.
The ministry expressed optimism that the remaining countries yet to communicate their decisions would soon approve the Nigerian envoys assigned to them.
Officials said the deployment of the ambassadors is expected to enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement, strengthen bilateral relations and advance the country’s foreign policy objectives across various regions.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with partner nations through effective diplomatic representation and constructive international engagement.
