A Los Angeles jury has ordered award-winning singer Chris Brown to pay $13 million in damages to his former housekeeper, Maria Avila, following a brutal dog attack that occurred at his California residence in 2020.
According to court proceedings, Avila suffered severe and life-altering injuries after being mauled by Brown’s 200-pound Caucasian Shepherd while carrying out her duties at the property. The attack reportedly left her requiring extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation.
After reviewing the evidence, the jury found Brown liable for the incident and awarded Avila $13 million in compensation to cover her injuries, medical expenses, pain, and suffering.
The verdict marks the conclusion of a years-long legal battle over the attack and underscores the legal responsibility of pet owners to ensure their animals do not pose a danger to others.
Neither Brown nor his legal representatives had publicly commented on the jury’s decision at the time of reporting.
