Defending champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons have arrived in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), as they begin their pursuit of a record-extending 11th continental title.
The nine-time African champions touched down, dressed in coordinated green-and-white Adire gowns with matching headwraps, blending tradition with confidence as they prepared for the tournament.
The team’s arrival followed a 10-day training camp in Casablanca, where head coach Justine Madugu put the squad through final preparations before the competition.
Nigeria heads into the tournament on the back of a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Tanzania in an international friendly, their final warm-up match before the championship.
Off the pitch, several players gave fans a glimpse of the team’s excitement through social media.
Esther Okoronkwo, Jennifer Echegini and Michelle Alozie shared a playful video captioned “Rich Aunty Vibes,” while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie entertained supporters with humorous skits and poses. Defender Tosin Demehin and Folashade Ijamilusi also posted photos and videos celebrating the team’s arrival in Morocco.
Nigeria will open their Group C campaign against Malawi at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat before taking on Zambia at the same venue. The Super Falcons will then conclude their group-stage matches against Egypt next month at the Olympic Stadium.
Ahead of the tournament, the Nigeria Football Federation unveiled a commemorative Super Falcons jersey featuring 10 stars surrounding the national badge.
According to the federation, each star represents one of Nigeria’s 10 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumphs, symbolising the country’s dominance in African women’s football.
The Super Falcons are the most successful team in the history of the competition and will be aiming to extend that record with an unprecedented 11th continental crown.
