The Zamfara State Police Command says it has cleared an improvised explosive device planted by armed bandits along the Kaura Namoda-Moriki Road, restoring safe movement for motorists and other road users.

In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said tactical teams were immediately deployed after the incident.
«“A combined team of the Violence Crime Response Unit and Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts was deployed to the area to conduct a thorough sweep and render the road safe for public use,” Mr Abubakar said.»

He said the security team also repaired damaged portions of the road to facilitate the resumption of normal vehicular movement.
The police said the device was planted by criminals in an apparent attempt to target road users along the route.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello, urged residents and motorists to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities or objects to security agencies.
He also warned members of the public against touching or tampering with suspected explosive devices.
The command said security agencies would continue to take measures to protect commuters and prevent further attacks along the road.
